The Take

Lives in the menu bar, uses EventKit and local-only logic, and auto-opens Zoom/Meet/Teams links at a configurable time — a small, practical win for anyone who scrambles for links. Switching from Electron to Tauri to shave bundle size is a nice engineering choice, but the idea itself is already served by existing menu-bar tools; what'll sell Galopen is polish around edge cases (multiple links in one invite, recurring/timezone quirks) and a clear UX decision on confirmation vs full automation.

Post Description

I built Galopen because I kept missing the right Zoom/Google Meet link when meetings started.

Instead of searching through calendar events manually, Galopen automatically detects upcoming events and opens the correct meeting link at the right time.

It’s macOS-only and built with Tauri. I originally made similar apps in Electron, but the bundle size was too large, so I migrated everything to Tauri to keep it lightweight.

Curious what others think: - Would you prefer full automation or confirmation before opening? - Any edge cases I should consider?

Would appreciate any feedback.
