AI Analysis

●●SolidCozyNiche Gem

Beautiful, account-free reading tracker, but Goodreads already owns this space.

Strengths
  • Local-first with localStorage means zero friction to start; no signup removes friction.
  • Design is genuinely clean—minimal UI respects the habit-building goal, not ornamental.
  • OpenLibrary integration for book search without requiring proprietary data licensing.
Weaknesses
  • Goodreads is entrenched with reviews, discovery, and network effects—hard to compete.
  • No sync across devices limits utility; localStorage-only is early-stage, not final.
  • Reading trackers are solved; habit streak + time/page logging isn't novel, just well-executed.

Post Description

I've tried various reading trackers, but they all felt ugly and slow, so I wanted to build something better.

This is my attempt to build a minimal beautiful reading tracker that makes room for what's important: actually developing the habit of reading. No social features, no reviews, no notifications. You can try it today with no account required.

All data is stored in localStorage, although I do intend to add syncing features in the future. Search goes to our server to query the entire OpenLibrary catalog of books.
