AI Analysis

MidCozyShip It

Readlang and LingQ already do tap-to-translate reading with spaced repetition built in.

Strengths
  • Single-app workflow eliminates switching between reader, translator, Notes, and Anki.
  • No data collection policy appeals to privacy-conscious learners avoiding cloud services.
Weaknesses
  • App Store shows 1 review — unclear if Android version is actually functional or published.
  • No differentiation from Kindle's built-in vocabulary builder or Readlang's web reader.

Post Description

Hi HN, I built Vocaperso because I kept running into the same problem while reading in German, I'd hit an unknown word, open Google Translate, switch to Notes to save it, then later copy everything into Anki. By the time I got back to the book I'd lost my place and my focus. Vocaperso puts the full loop in one place:

1. Upload any book 2. Read inside the app, tap any word to get an instant translation 3. Save it to a collection with one tap 4. Practice your collections with flashcards and match quizzes

The core idea is that vocabulary sticks better when it comes from something you chose to read. Context creates memory. A word you discovered in a book you love is harder to forget than one from a generic word list. It's available on iOS and Android. Would love feedback from language learners here, especially on the reading experience and what's missing. iOS: https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/vocaperso/id6759607986 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abdessamed...
