Dual ADS-B and LoRa mesh radios on a $100 board — aviation nerds will lose their minds.

Strengths
  • Dual RISC-V cores handle 1090 MHz ADS-B decoding and SX1262 LoRa mesh simultaneously
  • WebSerial companion app works in Chrome/Edge with no native install required
  • Meshtastic-compatible means it plugs into existing mesh networks out of the box
Weaknesses
  • RTL-SDR dongle plugged into USB Host port adds bulk to the portable form factor
  • Niche audience limits broader appeal beyond aviation and radio enthusiasts

Post Description

I built a portable 1090 MHz ADS-B receiver and Meshtastic mesh radio on a LilyGo T-Display-P4 (~$100). An RTL-SDR dongle plugged into the USB Host port receives aircraft transponder signals, decoded in real-time on the ESP32-P4's dual RISC-V cores. The onboard SX1262 LoRa radio runs Meshtastic-compatible mesh networking simultaneously.
