AI Analysis

MidSolve My Problem

Yet another disk analyzer, but finally surfaces AI model caches hiding in System Data.

Strengths
  • Targets AI tool caches (Ollama, Hugging Face, Whisper) that grow silently.
  • Built from real pain of 'Disk is full' on developer machines.
Weaknesses
  • DaisyDisk, OmniDiskSweeper, and CleanMyMac already dominate this space.
  • No evidence of novel scanning technique beyond existing tools.
Target Audience

macOS developers, AI tool users

Post Description

Built this after repeatedly running into “Disk is full” on macOS with no clear explanation.

Started as a cleanup tool for dev environments (Xcode, Docker, node_modules), but the harder problem turned out to be understanding what’s actually taking space.

macOS groups a lot of this into “System Data”, which isn’t very actionable.

Recently, local AI tools made this worse. Model files and caches (Ollama, Hugging Face, Whisper, etc.) grow silently and are spread across different locations.

The goal is to make disk usage more transparent before deciding what to remove.

Would appreciate feedback, especially from people running heavier dev setups.

Klarity Disk – A $6.99 DaisyDisk Alternative for Mac

Treemap plus icicle views and native SwiftUI builds give Klarity snappy local scans and a modern UI, with handy touches like Move to Trash and a menu-bar RAM monitor. It’s an attractive, lower-cost alternative to DaisyDisk with privacy (no telemetry) baked in — but it’s more refinement than innovation in an already crowded niche.
