Hyprland-style tiling on macOS without disabling System Integrity Protection.

Strengths
  • Userspace workspace management avoids System Integrity Protection requirements entirely.
  • Implements BSP dwindle tiling algorithm to match Hyprland workflow precisely.
  • Caps Lock modifier key feels native compared to Option or Command hacks.
Weaknesses
  • Accessibility API limitations may cause edge-case bugs with certain apps.
  • Niche audience limits broader adoption beyond dedicated keyboard-driven power users.

Post Description

I was using Hyprland on Omarchy and loved it. Then I switched to a Mac and immediately felt the loss — no real tiling WM, no virtual workspaces that don't feel bolted-on, nothing that matched the workflow I'd gotten used to. Existing options either required disabling SIP or felt like compromises. So I spent some time building HyprMac. Caps Lock becomes a modifier key, you get BSP dwindle tiling, 9 virtual workspaces managed entirely in userspace, directional focus and window swapping across monitors — all without touching System Integrity Protection.
