Gradient bands show pacing per slide — way more useful than a boring countdown timer.

Strengths
  • Visual gradient bands reveal which slides you lingered on during rehearsal.
  • ImageData approach fixes mobile gradient banding at high device pixel ratios.
  • Single HTML file with zero dependencies — works offline on any device.
Weaknesses
  • Very niche use case — only useful for timed presentations with slides.
  • No integration with PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides directly.

Post Description

I had a 6-minute pitch at 1 Million Cups and wanted more than a countdown timer. I wanted to see, at a glance, how my time was breaking down across slides as I presented.

The app fills the screen with a dark-to-bright red gradient as time passes. Tapping advances slides, which steps the brightness up, creating visible bands. Wide band = you lingered. Thin band = you moved fast. If you go overtime, solid white fills from the top, overwriting your gradient.

Built it for my own pitch, but my friend already used it for a college presentation so I figured I'd share it.
