AI Analysis

MidSlickSolve My Problem

Vertical sidebar with AI grouping, but OneTab and Workona already dominate this space.

Strengths
  • Detached tabs claim zero RAM usage by suspending them while keeping them in the sidebar.
  • AI auto-grouping attempts to cluster related tabs across different domains automatically.
  • Smart naming suggests descriptive group titles based on tab content context.
Weaknesses
  • Tab management is a saturated market with established players like Workona and Toby.
  • AI grouping is a paid feature, limiting the free tier's core value proposition.

Post Description

Since I started working in tech I constantly found myself with literally 100+ tabs open and not enough will power to organize (or close) them

Any tab manager I found required me to do extra steps to an, admittedly, already easy process that I still wasn't doing

So I decided on building my own thing, and making a product out of it.

It's a Chrome based extension and does a couple of things:

- automatically hides tabs from your tab bar but keeps them open in a vertical one - deduplicates tabs - automatically moves new tabs in groups - and ofc, has an AI to organize them in groups based on on going projects

I personally am able to stay under 10 tabs now and still have all my clutter open in the vertical tab manager. Hopefully this is of use to at least some of you.

Disclaimer, it does have a paid plan for unlimited usage with the AI, but everything else is free and doesn't require an account

A Toby alternative with vertical tabs and no forced new tab override

Optional new-tab override is the clearest smart move: it lets OrgaNice coexist with whatever new-tab UI you already prefer instead of forcing a replacement. The product pairs sensible local-first defaults (unlimited nested folders, JSON import/export, side-panel vertical tabs) with a paid cloud sync/recovery option — useful features, but sync security and long-term reliability will be the make-or-break for people trusting it across devices.
