Reads local logs instead of flaky API calls—finally accurate token tracking.

Strengths
  • Local log parsing bypasses unreliable /status and /usage API endpoints entirely
  • Native Swift with widgets, notarization, and zero API key requirements
  • Real per-model pricing with cache-hit splits most tools flatten incorrectly

Post Description

i, like you, probably burn tokens like water and i don't trust the /status or /usage calls b/c, for whatever reason, they either fail to load in the CLI). so, i'm constantly refreshing the direct links to Claude / Codex dashboard, manually.

this, of course, is not reasonable.

turns out, you can grab that local data right off your macOS and report that in near real-time! now i can see my spend right in my menu bar.

i thought about using a name "tokenbar" and the like but there are a few other projects that already exist in a variety of states. i wanted a polished one that i'd feel confident about and one that i'd keep updated on the regular. b/c tokenmaxxing.

the icon is my cat and she's really nosy and particular about a lot of things. she's also getting older so this doubles as my homage to her.

i've built in Claude Code and Codex and i'm going to work on other providers - would love some feedback on what i should do next. probably gemini / antigravity, opencode, and such.

if you do end up using it, email me and i'll give you 100% lifetime coupon for my thanks for testing it out.

meow.
