Native binary dictation with zero network calls beats Apple's own cloud-dependent implementation.

Strengths
  • Guarantees privacy with zero network calls and no audio saved to disk during dictation.
  • Single native binary implementation avoids Electron bloat and achieves ~100ms latency.
  • Offers both a polished GUI app and a Homebrew-installable CLI for terminal users.
Weaknesses
  • Currently limited to macOS with Windows support still in the roadmap.
  • On-device models may lack the accuracy of larger cloud-based transcription engines.

Post Description

I built Rekody, a voice dictation tool for macOS. There's many like it but this one is mine. Transcription runs on-device by default and it's free open source.

There's a CLI version and a Mac app. Windows next. If you end up suing it, I would genuinely love your feedback.
