I built a unified REST API for mining tenement data because the fragmentation across government portals was driving me crazy.

Each state/province has different formats, different APIs (or no API at all), different field names. If you wanted to answer "what tenements does Company X hold across multiple jurisdictions?" you'd need to query 4+ different systems.
