AI Analysis

MidSolve My Problem

Tool discount finder in Claude Code—useful but feels like ads, and no clear moat over manual comparison.

Strengths
  • Smart trigger logic: only fires when genuinely evaluating new tools, not spamming on every tool mention—shows iteration on feedback.
  • Proactive scanning of package.json identifies deals on tools you're already using, surfacing unexpected savings.
  • MCP integration is clean; Claude Code placement means frictionless discovery during actual decision-making moments.
Weaknesses
  • Core value is aggregating public discount/credit lists—low barrier to replicate, and unclear if coverage is comprehensive enough to be relied upon.
  • Monetization and long-term sustainability unclear; feels speculative whether users would prefer this over checking tool docs directly.

Post Description

I made an MCP server that plugs into Claude Code and tells you if there are credits or discounts available for tools in your stack.

First version was super spammy - it fired every time you mentioned any tool. Now it only triggers when you're actually evaluating something new. Also working on having it scan your package.json on init so it can flag deals on stuff you're already paying for.

Honest question: would you use this or does it just feel like ads in your IDE?

Would love feedback and to know if this is something you'd actually use.
