MidCozyNiche Gem

Vinyl-era album browsing aesthetic for Apple Music, but it's a companion app.

Strengths
  • Surfaces ID3 tag metadata that Apple Music doesn't expose in its interface
  • Automatically discovers and displays PDF booklets from local album folders
  • Desktop-level design with trackpad gesture reveal keeps artwork visible while working
Weaknesses
  • Companion app category—wraps existing Music.app functionality without novel technique
  • Very narrow audience: Apple Music users who collect local files rather than stream

Post Description

I’ve been working on a macOS companion for Apple Music called gr∞ves. It's my first new app in over 10 years. I'm looking for beta testers who use Apple Music on MacOS regularly.

The goal is to bring back the experience of browsing a record collection while listening — large album artwork, additional liner-style information, and easy access to extra material related to the album currently playing.

The app runs alongside Apple Music and displays artwork at full resolution, with slideshow views of additional images found locally or online. It also surfaces extended information like artist bios, curated album notes, and extended / enhanced track data. It’s designed mainly for people who maintain their own digital music libraries, but it also works with Apple Music streaming.

Some features:

• large-format artwork display from local and online sources • artwork slideshow including alternate covers and images • expanded album and artist information • PDF booklet discovery • album change notifications • gesture and hotkey support • works with both local libraries and streaming

We’ve just opened a public TestFlight beta and would love feedback.
