Browser-based ECU tuning with WebGL maps beats WinOLS for cross-platform work.

Strengths
  • Client-side BIN parsing means no server uploads for sensitive tuning files.
  • WebGL 3D surface maps replace desktop-only visualization tools.
  • EPK signature auto-detection eliminates manual ECU identification steps.
Weaknesses
  • Narrow VAG Simos 18 / DQ250 focus limits broader automotive tuning appeal.
  • Browser environment may lack low-level access for some flashing operations.

Post Description

Got frustrated with WinOLS and TunerPro, so I built my own alternative that runs entirely in the browser.

Techstack: Preact, Typescript, WebGL, Vite, Tailwind

BIN files are parsed entirely client-side, 3D surface maps rendered with WebGL and ECUs are auto-detected via EPK signature.

Built for VAG Simos 18 / DQ250 DSG tuning, but loads standard XDF/A2L definitions too. I use it for my own Audi A3 1.8 IS38 build and customer tunes.
