No phone number required messaging when Session already does this.

Strengths
  • Zero-knowledge server architecture makes plaintext access mathematically impossible
  • Multi-device identity with independent key material per device and revocation
  • Uses peer-reviewed protocols (X3DH, Double Ratchet, MLS) not proprietary crypto
Weaknesses
  • Invitation-only with 50 seats limits real-world testing and feedback
  • Privacy messenger space already has Session, Briar, and SimpleX with similar claims

Post Description

I’ve been working on a messaging system that removes identity from the communication layer entirely.

No phone number. No email. No contact graph.

Everything is end-to-end encrypted, including device identities. The server cannot read messages or infer relationships.

We’re opening access to a small group (50 users) to test the system in real-world conditions.

Would appreciate feedback from this community.

EncroGram – Messaging When You Assume Everything Will Be Looked At

Starts from a strict threat model — password-only identities, no contact sync, ephemeral relays, and an emergency "0000" wipe all push toward leaving as little recoverable metadata as possible. Those are useful, concrete tradeoffs, but sweeping claims like 'technically impossible to spy' need a public audit and the Apple-only restriction limits reach and threat-model assumptions.
