Durable Objects serialize agent writes—clever fix for Linear's API conflict problems.

Strengths
  • Cloudflare Durable Objects guarantee serialized writes per project, eliminating race conditions.
  • First-class agent identities with scoped keys separate agent actions from human credentials.
  • Idempotency keys on all mutating endpoints handle network retries without duplicates.
Weaknesses
  • Task management is brutally crowded—Linear, Jira, and Asana already have MCP integrations.
  • Free now but no clear monetization path; sustainability questions for infrastructure costs.

Post Description

We built an agent-first task management system because legacy tools weren't cutting it

We've been building with AI coding agents daily, and task management kept being a friction point. Markdown file collections, bolted-on MCPs for Jira/Linear, sluggish APIs — or just having agents create work items directly, bypassing whatever UI we were supposedly using.

These tools were never designed with agents in mind. So we rethought it from scratch: agent-first, minimal clutter, built around what you and your agent actually need. The result is Tokanban — simple, scalable, performant, and free.
