Local web server bypasses Apple TV's terrible text input for uploading artpacks.

Strengths
  • Local web server workaround solves the no-keyboard problem on tvOS elegantly.
  • Modem mode simulates baud rates and line noise for authentic nostalgia.
  • Supports legacy formats like .ICE and .ANS with CP437 rendering.
Weaknesses
  • Paid ($1.99) while macOS version is free, which might fragment the user base.
  • Extremely niche appeal; most users won't care about ANSI art.

Post Description

A while back I posted the macOS version here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47288007

Now there's a tvOS version. The interesting part was getting artpacks onto an Apple TV without a keyboard, the app runs a small web server on your local network, so you upload packs or browse 16colo.rs from your phone and the TV plays from cache.

Paid this time; the macOS version stays free and open source.
