Strengths

  • Bring-your-own-key model prevents vendor lock-in and keeps billing transparent for users.
  • Specific psychological frameworks offer deeper insight than generic meeting summaries.
Weaknesses
  • Tied exclusively to Granola, excluding users of Zoom, Teams, or Meet recordings.
  • Lacks real-time feedback during meetings, only analyzing past transcripts retrospectively.

Post Description

Built this for myself, and ran it on multiple times finding it superbly helpful.

I wanted to understand what might be stopping us being a unicorn ourselves, and how I articulated myself in the meetings to the investors and our team.

I got practical advice from AI about my personality and how I can achieve my goals given my personality constraints.

Since this is a highly sensitive data, I've decided to make it privacy-focused and open-source the code so that anyone can run it on their side and contribute code into it.

You can run the open-source version on your end: https://github.com/Vela-Engineering/coach

Or, you can test a hosted version that runs on your browser: https://coach.vela.partners/

The neat twist is goal-driven framing — it promises to filter and reframe sources around what you actually need instead of dumping generic summaries. The landing lists concrete UX bits (Substack/RSS sources, 5am delivery, full transcript, $5/month) but is light on how content is ranked, filtered, or vetted; execution looks clean, not revolutionary.
