Flips AI PR spam problem: backers fund issues, agents code, maintainers approve.

Strengths
  • Thoughtful pooling dynamics with unused funds returning to backers automatically
  • Maintainer control preserved through plan approval and diff review workflow
  • AI agent works in credential-less sandbox with CI integration
Weaknesses
  • OSS funding space is crowded (GitHub Sponsors, Open Collective, Polar)
  • Success depends on critical mass of backers and maintainers adopting together
Target Audience

Open source maintainers, community backers, AI-curious developers

Post Description

Howdy all. I'm Zack . I've been thinking about the problem of misguided AI pull requests and figured I'd throw a possible solution out there for feedback. Basically, CleverCrow lets supporters give tokens to a GitHub repo (or set of issues in that repo) for the maintainers to use to build/fix stuff. The fun implementation challenges have been around implementing the pooling dynamics and keeping the maintainers in charge while the backers are motivated to support their work.

OpenHarness – A harness for open source projects built by AI agents

The core loop is simple and clever: post an open‑source idea, hit a community upvote threshold (100), and partner labs sponsor tokens so agents can build in sandboxes. It’s an intriguing experiment in automated project creation, but the landing page leaves huge questions about code review, security, ownership, QA, and long‑term maintenance — promising as a concept, light on execution details.
