Post Description

Hey HN, I build "How Loud Is My Hotel?" as a simple way to check for possible loud noise near a hotel (or any other address) before booking it.

I've had some negative experiences in the past so this automatically checks for things like nearby Clubs, Police Stations with sirens, big roads, railroads etc. and gives you a "noise score" based on them.

It's free, works worldwide and needs no account. It estimates outside noise risk rather than measuring decibels, so building insulation and temporary noise aren’t included.

[Jack The Butler] Open-source, self-hosted AI chatbot for hotels

Focused on a concrete pain: unanswered guest messages and repetitive front-desk work. It combines multi-channel inboxing (WhatsApp/SMS/email), PMS hooks (Cloudbeds, Mews, Opera) and local/model options like Ollama so hotels can self-host and avoid per-message fees. Nice product-market fit, but the real value will depend on how robust the knowledge ingestion, escalation logic, and privacy controls actually are in practice.
