Canvas-based file organization beats nested folders, but needs mobile and cross-browser support.

Strengths
  • Solves genuine friction: visual folder preview without opening each one
  • Fully local with HTML export means zero lock-in or privacy concerns
  • Keyboard-friendly canvas with drag-drop and custom grouping feels thought-out
Weaknesses
  • Edge-only browser extension severely limits audience; Notion, Obsidian already do this broadly
  • No Windows file system integration; folder viewer is read-only, not a true file manager
Category
Target Audience

Knowledge workers, students, anyone organizing digital clutter

Post Description

I'm a high school student who got tired of clicking through nested folders just to find files. Every time I needed something specific, I had to open folder after folder. Small frustration, but it adds up fast. So I built Postrix. You drag folders onto a canvas and immediately see what's inside without opening anything. As I kept building, I thought it'd also be useful to organize URLs alongside files, so I added that too. You can group links into cards and arrange everything freely on the same canvas. It runs entirely in the browser with no server or account needed. Workspaces can be exported as a single self-contained HTML file to share with anyone. There's also a browser extension available on Edge. Just launched as a free beta. Bug reports and feedback are very welcome. Discord: https://discord.gg/Hxf7fPuv
