Checking accounts have turned into a junk drawer: money flies in and out and we hope for the best. That works well enough, but at some point there's money that needs to be shared or tracked for an ongoing, dedicated purpose. Shared use cases (think house funds, nanny cards, classrooms, side projects, Discord servers, and more) are especially painful. Checking accounts, spreadsheets, P2P apps, and tracking apps fall short. We wanted something more like a silverware drawer. Purpose-built compartments that everyone understands.
We wanted an account that would hold money, support multiple members with assigned roles, and offer spending rules, permissions, and cards. Customize your Pool as you like and use it for a day or a decade. It’s meant to complement, not replace, your primary account. This didn’t really exist, so we built it.
With the ongoing “agent making payments” conversation, a safe space that is customizable and not necessarily “your permanent checking account” feels especially needed right now. Would love to know your thoughts! We are 18+ and US Only for now.
Thanks.
PS - I started Braid and shut it down in 2023, and this community was especially supportive during that time. I really appreciated it.
